the brief

I worked with sculptor Eddie Butler to help present his work in a way that felt as considered and professional as the sculptures themselves. Eddie creates bronze pieces with a strong sense of character and craftsmanship, and the aim was to give him the marketing materials needed to approach galleries, public spaces and potential buyers across the UK with confidence.

The project started with an in-depth interview lasting around an hour. Rather than simply designing a brochure around a few images, I wanted to properly understand Eddie’s background, his creative process, the meaning behind his work and what motivates him as an artist. That conversation gave me the material I needed to write the brochure and a series of press releases in a way that genuinely sounded like him.

I also photographed Eddie himself, creating professional portraits that helped put a face to the work, alongside carefully photographed images of his bronze sculptures. Bringing together the photography, written content and design meant I could create a brochure that told a complete story rather than simply acting as a catalogue.

Once the design was finished, I also managed the printing process so Eddie received a professionally produced final piece that he could confidently send to galleries and use when promoting his work.

This was one of those projects where the feedback genuinely meant a lot to me. Eddie was incredibly kind about the finished work, and we’re now planning an ongoing relationship so I can continue documenting new sculptures and creating fresh content as his collection develops.
